The
shipyard received a communication from Starbase One, specifically from FAdm
Beckett, initiating the Armageddon Directive. Almost instantly, the command
level and key yard personnel were beamed to the planet below, the USS Quasar and
the newly built Gibraltar.
The shipyards were hit with pulses of energy from the Borg vessels and the
Engineers, Marines and Technicians began scrambling for their battle stations.
Nekitaroma ordered the viewscreen on to see what was happening and spotted a
Borg vessel moving their way.
“Launch the Gibraltar! Now!”
A second after issuing the order, a transporter beam washed over him and
delivered him to the Quasar. The Marine ship was ready for her launch, the test
crew already aboard as many of the base personnel were also transported aboard
her.
There were several ships in the yards for repair, but none of them were space
worthy yet as repairs had been slow going with the war. The Valley Forge,
Avenger, Valiant, were all being worked on, but there was no chance they could
be launched before the Borg arrived.
Short moments after the Gibraltar launched, the Borg ships fired their weapons
on the shipyards, completely destroying them and the ships berthed there. The
Avenger, the Valley Forge, the Valiant, like a chain reaction exploded in their
moorings.
The Borg ships continued to fire, making sure that no resistance would be
possible.
