POINTS AND RANK

Rank in Federation Space is not arbitrarily awarded, but earned by the collection of points. The rank system, the points required for each rank, and how to earn the points are listed below:

Rank Caps:

All players with a basic bio are capped at Ensign until they complete the full bio.
Department Heads are capped at Lieutenant Commander until they take on a command role (FO/CO) or are approved for the rank of full Commander by the CINC on the recommendation of their Commanding Officer.
First Officers are capped at Commander with the exception of FO's who are assigned to capital ships (Battleship/Carrier). They may then hold the rank of Captain if approved by the CINC.
Commanding Officers are capped at Captain until such time as they take command of a capital ship (Battleship/Carrier) or become a Group Commander.

Points are awarded on the following basis:

500 pts - for each month of active participation in a mission*
300 pts - for each month of active Game Moderating a mission**
300 pts - for each month of active Academy Instruction
300 pts - for each month of holding the CO position**
200 pts - for each month of holding the FO position**
100 pts - for each month of holding a Department Head Position**
300 pts - for recruiting a new player to Federation Space. (Points will be awarded after the recruit has been active for one month aboard their ship assignment.)

A variable amount of points may be earned by the following actions:
Earning a medal or award. For a list of all medals and awards and their point values, click here.
Contributing services to the club. This can include supplying graphics or content to the page.

* Active participation will be judged by the CO of the ship. The CO may assign any number of points from 1 to 500 based on your participation. If you only post once a month, don't expect to get 500 points for participation. From my own, personal, view, I would award 500 points to a player that posted game messages twice a week. Your CO may have different guidelines. They should have a post in the 'Ready Room' section of the ship site describing their policy on posting and points.

** These points will be prorated if the player only occupies the position for a partial month. For example, if you become a department head half way through the month, you will get 50% of the points available, or 50 points.

All points will be tabulated and posted on the 1st of every month. Members newly promoted will be listed in the Personnel Department.
