“Chancellor, it would not be proper for you to lead the attack.” Worf said
with a hint of aggravation.
“Worf, my friend, you are still thinking too much like a Starfleet Officer, I
am not your Captain, whom you must instruct not to lead an away mission, I am
the Chancellor of the Klingon High Council, the Commander of the 6th Fleet. It
is my duty to lead this attack which I helped to plan. Besides, how can you ask
me to sit here while Brave Warriors go off and die for me, that is not our
way.” As Martok spoke you could tell there would be no changing his mind.
“Very well but I will stand with you.”
“You’ll get no argument from me on that Worf! I’ll need a good First
Officer.”
“Then it is settled.”
“Yes it is Worf, now don’t be so serious, it is a time to celebrate! For
soon we will show the Romulans what happens to those who oppose us!.”
Martok laughed, but Worf always the serious one just took another Drink of his
Prune Juice.

“Admiral do not worry yourself, we will win this day! How can we fail? The
Romulans only recently captured that Sector, there supply routes are still weak
there. Besides what are a few Warbirds to a Hundred of our ships!”
“My concern is not of your battle Chancellor, but instead of the fact you are
utilizing the entire 6th Fleet for it. This will leave Klingon Space and a
number of area’s on the Romulan Border open to enemy attack.”
“That is true, but we will catch them unprepared, they won’t have a chance
to mount a counterattack. The Fleet departs Tomorrow morning, we will arrive
before our enemy has even gotten up from there sleep.”
“I hope your right Chancellor, Good Luck, Ross Out.”
The Admirals image winked out and Worf turned to speak.
“Martok, Admiral Ross makes a good point, what if the Romulans....”
Worf is cut off by Martok who seems tired of his friends concerns.
“Worf, always the worrier, it will be Glorious, when we are drinking to this
day I will remind you of this and we will have a good laugh over it!”
“Perhaps you are right Chancellor, but I always prefer to be cautious.”
“This time Worf your concern is unneeded, I will see you Tomorrow morning
aboard my new ship the Ta’vhe.”
The two men got up from the table they had been sitting at and walked out of the
room.

As Martok sat in the ships command chair Worf entered the room, he stood to
Martok's left, facing the Viewscreen.
“Now that you are here Worf we can begin... Helmsmen, set course 3461.4, and
prepare to engage at Maximum Warp... At my Command.”
“Communications Officer, Put me through to the Fleet!”
“Yes Chancellor.” the Officer replied as he activated the ships Comm System.
“This is Chancellor Martok to the 6th Fleet, it is time to begin the mission!
We will Rendezvous at Gamma Eridon in 3.6 hours, Songs will be sung of this Day!
Martok Out.”
“Engage!”
A number of hours passed and the tension began to build in the Bridge.
“How long until we arrive?” Martok barked.
“Our Estimated Time of Arrival to Gamma Eridon is 10 Minutes, 43 Seconds.”
“Very Good, the Fleet is cloaked correct?”
“Yes Chancellor, the entire Fleet is cloaked, as are we.”
As the minutes go by people seem to become even more nervous, however as
Klingons they would never admit it.
“Chancellor, we have entered Gamma Eridon.”
“All Stop, Scan the Area!”
“As Expected there are a Dozen or so Romulan Freighters, with only 2 Warbirds
protecting them.”
“Can you determine what those Freighters are transporting?” Worf asked.
“No Sir, they seem to be protected by some sort of dampening field.”
“Martok there must be something going on here, if there cargo is important
enough for them to make sensor scans impossible, why would they only be
protected by two Warbirds?”
“I don’t know Worf... they must not have been expecting us, besides the
Romulans have always been overconfident.” Martok said with a toothy grin.
“Or Chancellor maybe there are more ships in the area, only cloaked.”
“We will soon see Worf, begin an Active Tachyon Scan, according to the
information Starfleet gave us this type of scan should tell us if there is
anything in the area which could be a cloaked ship.”
“Scan Complete Chancellor, we are detecting nothing.”
“What did I tell you Worf...”
Suddenly the ships alarm started to sound and with it the whole ship began to
shake.”
“Chancellor! Romulan Warbirds decloaking, there are too many of them for me to
get an accurate count on there numbers.”
“Sir! The left flank has been completely destroyed, they must have traced our
Tachyon scan!”
“Deactivate the Cloaking Device! Raise our shields and arm the weapon
systems!”
“Cloak Deactivated, our shields are up and all weapons standing by.”
“Then by all means open fire on the nearest ship!”
As the Ta’vhe opened fire on the Romulan Ships, the entire Fleet began to
break apart. It had been a trap and the Romulans had beaten the Klingons at
there own game. So many ships were being destroyed, so quickly that it produced
almost a Curtain of Fire.
“Chancellor, we can’t win, we must withdraw.” Worf shouted over the noise
of explosions.
“By the Hand of Kahless get us out of here! Signal the Fleet to Retreat back
to Klingon Space.”
The ships shaking was replaced by the slight push one felt as the ship entered
Warp, but before the Internal Dampeners had fully compensated for the change in
speed.
“How many ships are left?”
“I’m only detecting 13 Ships with us in formation now.”
“13!? out of a Hundred!?”
Stardate 54823.4 -
“How is that possible?”
“We don’t yet know Admiral, somehow the Romulans devised a method to nullify
our Tachyon Detection Grid. They must have changed there Cloaking Technology
considerably since the Dominion War.”
“How many ships were lost?”
“83 Ships were lost in only a few minutes...”
“That's incredible, obviously we’ve underestimated the Romulans yet again...
in the process we also lost a number of key systems, they captured Starbase 43
and a few of the surrounding Sectors while the 6th Fleet was engaged at Gamma
Eridon.”
“It won’t happen again Admiral, I promise you that.”
“I’ll hold you to it Chancellor, for now there isn’t much more you can do,
at least until your Fleet is back up to strength. I wouldn’t be surprised if
this goes down as one of the costliest battles in History...”
Worf who had been silent through most of the conversation, finally spoke up.
“One thing is for sure, the Romulans will make us pay for every system we take
back...”
