Parent's Status: Adam is an archeologist and Miakoda is a xenobiologist. They are currently on a classified site in the far reaches of the Alpha Quadrant conducting research on an unknown species that seems to have originated from the Delta Quadrant.

Personal History: Aiyana was born on the 4 March along with her twin Brother Chakotay in Phoenix, AZ, Earth to Adam and Miakoda Baldwin. The youngest of 5, the twins were the entertainment of the entire Baldwin family, especially when the twins turned 4 and learnt to talk.

Having parents with careers in both Archeology and Xenobiology, the twins spent the majority of their childhood traveling around the Alpha Quadrant and experiencing a multitude of difference cultures. Aiyana especially enjoyed learning the languages of the cultures they encountered and regularly acted as a translator for her parent from the age of 13.

When Aiyana and Chakotay were 8, the family was located on a planet close to the Neutral Zone when the First General War broke out. They were quickly evacuated, but her older sister Natalia's shuttle was destroyed before docking with the starship. Aiyana felt her loss greatly and didn't speak for 2 years.

When Aiyana was 15, she and Chakotay were exploring on an unknown planet that their parents were working on, under orders from Starfleet, when Aiyana lost her footing while climbing a rocky mountain, and fell 6 feet onto a hard surface. She suffered multiple broken bones, a fractured skull and was in a coma for 2 months. The bones healed, and her skull was repaired, but above her left eye, where a piece of rock pierced the skin, there is still a scar. It serves to remind Aiyana that her spirit guide is always watching out for her.

After her brother Helaku joined Starfleet when she was 17, his stories of the Academy and his training enthralled both Aiyana and Chakotay, and they decided, with their parents blessing, that after attending a private University, they would apply for entrance into the Starfleet Academy.

Aiyana was the captain of her high school football team, and was offered 4 positions with prestigious Universities. Deciding to stay close to home, she accepted the offer from University of Arizona where she majored in Linguistics, Psychology and Native American History.

Questions
Most Painful Experience: When Aiyana was 8, her family was on a planet near the Neutral Zone when the First General War broke out. Although the entire Baldwin family were able to evacuate the planet before it was attacked, Natalia’s shuttle craft exploded before rendezvousing with the Starship her family was on. With Aiyana, being the youngest and Natalia the oldest, the two girls were extremely close. Although this occurred at a young age, and the 10 year age difference between the sisters, Aiyana always felt a connection with Natalia, and to this day, still believes that she is alive.
Best Time: Being named as the Captain of my football team, having Chakotay and Helaku return in time for her first Vision Quest ceremony (the ceremony is now allowed for both males and females) and finding and meeting her spirit guide.
Most Crucial Experience: Although a strong willed person, when in Junior High, although her athletic skills were outstanding, she was not allowed on the school's football team. After changing schools, and going through weeks of training, she was given the opportunity to prove herself on the field. By the time she finished High School, she was the Captain of her team, and had offers to some of the best Universities in North America.

This solidified her mental decision to persevere in everything that she does, and to go that extra mile to prove herself capable of accomplishing a task, something she has asserted into her Starfleet Training.
Role Model: My Mother, Miakoda, because she is a lady in every sense, her intelligence, her love and loyalty for those she cares about and her strength and determination in every assignment and posting she is given.
