| Personal History: |
Amalek Barrett was born on the Mars
Colony but moved to the North American Continent on Earth when he was five.
His father was a Commander in Starfleet and first officer of the USS Gemini.
Amalek was always fascinated by space travel and possessed many toy
models of ships when he was young. His father's ship undertook a mission to
investigate a Nebula that was and is jettisoning anti-matter into space
sporadically. The Gemini went missing when Amalek was 13. Everyone assumes
the crew to be dead, but with no ship or body remains found, Amalek doesn't
believe that they're dead. There were two small ships that went in to look
for the ship or the remains of the ship but they, too, disappeared.
Starfleet has since declared the Nebula off-limits. Because of the Gemini
Incident, his mother was furious with him when he applied for Starfleet
Academy. But it didn't stop him. Just before he left for the academy, his
sister graduated from a civilian medical school. Life at the academy was rough at first for Amalek. His very first test in Warp Theory, he failed miserably. He learned to pick up the pace academically but the physical stuff was also very hard for him at first. Frankly he was surprised that he was accepted, he assumed it had a lot to do with his father. While he was never a 'wimp' strength was not something that he possessed. He had a timid personality and little interest in sports. He was something of a loner. He had close friends of course, but never very many, he never believed they were worth the effort and would often opt to be on his own. Slowly he became accustomed to academy life and ended up doing very well. He had one relationship with a girl named Jane who was later expelled from the academy. It was a relatively long-lived relationship but ended abruptly when Amalek caught her red-handed, so to speak, with another. The final exam, though it didn't go quite as smoothly as he had hoped (as in his Galaxy Class ship experienced a Warp Core breach), turned out okay in the end. In his opinion, Starfleet Academy was the greatest thing that ever happened to him, he is stronger now and a great fighter, since he ended up minoring in Security. He is still a little nervous but his personality is much improved, and he is well over Jane. He has since been assigned to the Columbus Scout USS Yeager, a posting he had originally been disappointed with. Now, however, he has become quite accustomed to it and calls it home. Two years ago he recently discovered the existence of a Romulan in his family line. It was far back (making him 1/16th Romulan). This Romulan was Terrik, a Senator from 2320. His wife was a pirate named Stephanie Mason and they had a daughter. Amalek has no idea first, how Stephanie made it to Romulus and married a senator, and second, how their daughter made it back to humanity. |

Personality |

| Short-Term Goals: | To be a highly valued member of the Yeager, earning his Captain's respect. |
| Long-Term Goals: | To find the USS Gemini and his Father. |
| Personality: | He's friendly and uplifting to anyone who's down. He does worry about pleasing others, perhaps too much, often ignoring what he himself wants. He keeps his feelings to himself and thus is a little apprehensive about telepaths. |
| Sense of Humor: | A good one; he can make and receive jokes rather easily. He also considers a sense of humor a crucial part of any judgment of character he makes. |
| Phobias: | Not a big fan of bugs. |

| Dislikes: | Cardassians (he has read, in detail, about the Kessok Incident and has met the Sovereign's Captain), and Vulcan food. |

| Strengths: | The ability to stay focused, always ready to learn, fairly ambitious, and a good sense of humor. |
| Weaknesses: | Has some trouble with split-second decision making, and doesn't always think before he says. |
| Fears: | His ship's destruction. Telepath's mind-reading capabilities. |
| Prejudices: | Cardassians. |

|
Questions |
| Most Painful Experience: | The day his father disappeared. Two months prior, before his father had left, he wanted to go out for dinner with the family and Amalek had opted not to go. He has felt excruciating guilt over it every since. |
| Best Time: | In the Academy, he and his squad-mates had the most renowned fighter pilot team in the school. In his last year, they put on a spectacular air show for the entire student body. Amalek only regrets falling out of touch with them. |
| Most Crucial Experience: | The day that he resolved that he would join Starfleet, earn respect, honor, and command of his own ship that he could take in search of his father and bring him home. |
| Role Model: | Captain Thomas Marcus-the Captain of the USS Sovereign during the Kessok Incident. Amalek met him in the when he (Amalek) was in the Academy and has since really looked up to him. Capt. Marcus is currently retired and on earth. |
