Best Friend: |
Ashley Todd, a girl his age, was Arthur's
best friend at the Colony. In the short time Arthur lived there with his
grandfather, Ashley was a constant and fierce friend to Arthur. It was with
her help that Arthur quickly found some little bit of peace with his
family's tragedy. In their talks, Ashley coined Arthur's nickname, calling
him by his last name, Dodge, because he constantly looked for ways around
the painful questions he had to confront. Before his grandfather's death,
Arthur thought they may end up becoming more than friends, but found himself
looking for something to define him, and so joined Star Fleet. Arthur and
Ashley exchange letters often, and Arthur still introduces himself
informally as Dodge. |

Personal
History: |
Arthur grew up on Earth in Boston in a
fairly typical family. His father was a retired Star Fleet officer, retired
because of an injury to his nervous system that occurred during a standard
maintenance check in the engine room of a medical frigate making a stop at
Earth. Since that time, Arthur had been the man of the family, though his
mother held her own quite nicely around their home. Between taking care of
his father, Alexander, and raising him and his sister, Anna, Amy Dodge still
found room for joy in her life, and took up several hobbies, including
writing intricate and beautiful holosuite programs. When Anna got engaged
and moved away to Louisiana with her fiancée, a brilliant cook and artist,
Arthur, then fifteen, and his parents decided to make a change themselves
and move to the Earth Colony where Arthur's grandfather lived under the care
of his aunt and uncle. But the flight to the Colony was a doomed one from
the start. Only kilometers from safety, the pilot made a perilous move that
clipped one of the structures and the transport crashed. Arthur was one of
ten survivors pulled from the wreckage, but the only one of his family. On
his sixteenth birthday Arthur was rushed to the Earth Colony MedBay and had
to have his right arm amputated due to massive damage to the nerves, the
muscles, the bones, everything. He also had several lacerations which were
closed, but the largest, a huge gash in his face, left a scar behind. For
the next couple of years, Arthur lived with his grandfather until he died
only a few months before the anniversary of the crash. Arthur decided to
attend Star Fleet Academy and become a Tactical officer, to learn how to fly
ships and serve the Federation well. Learning to fly a ship seemed like a
sort of passive vengeance to Arthur; if he could fly, he knew that at least
those vessels he flew were safe. |
