| Personal History: |
Areack’s mother was the daughter of a high ranking admiral in the Romulan Imperial Navy, so she knew that a war was coming. She had seen some of her father’s reports and she suspected from the beginning that the Federation would prevail so on stardate 17702.12 she secretly fled from Romulus and over the course of the next few months she made her way to Earth and finally arrived at San Francisco. Upon landing she apprehended by Star Fleet security. She was able to make a deal with the government and Star Fleet, in exchange for becoming a federation citizen and being given a house in San Francisco, she gave them valuable secrets about Romulan fleets and ships. While living in San Francisco she met David Jackson. They dated for a year and were married on Stardate 17802.15, and they had their first child, Areack, on Stardate 17901.10. Areack was a very active and out going child until one day he was betrayed by one of his good friends. He wasn’t able to get over this experience for a long time and it left him somewhat of a loner. Areack still kept his hobbies and likes though. Every few months he got a new hobby, reading holo-novels, building model ships, different games, and other things like that . But there were a few hobbies that he hung on to over the years, engineering, old earth sailing ships and reading. His interest in engineering was one of the factors that led him to join Star Fleet. Areack’s father was a Star Fleet engineer, and a good one at that. He had retired from ship duty when Areack was born and from Star Fleet entirely when Areack was nine and he started a small shipping company. But only one year later the first General war began and Star Fleet asked David to re-join. Missing his old job and feeling a sense of patriotism, he accepted. Only five months later David was part of a fleet that was massacred by the Romulans in the Volgo system. When Areack and his mother received news that David was M.I.A. Areack grew very angry with the nation whose blood he shared, he desired vengeance against all Romulans at large. Over the years, though, this desired diminished and completely left Areack who now wishes to learn more about his people. Areack was in the top of his graduating class in high school and soon after went to the academy for a four year engineering officer’s degree. CAREER HISTORY: Areack’s graduation was delayed for a few weeks because Star Fleet Security wanted to run a background check on him due to the fact that it was during the height of the Romulan War. He was assigned to the Titan on inactive duty while his loyalties were assessed. Areack didn’t mind much, he understood that Star Fleet security was just making sure he wasn’t a risk to the rest of the crew. The Titan, along with the rest of the fleet, was scattered when the Borg invaded and he still remained on the inactive roster for a few more months until a security officer on the Titan discovered the reasons for his inactiveness and moved him to the active roster. After the Borg were removed from the Alpha quadrant, Areack was transferred to the Copernicus. While on shore leave Star Fleet Security contacted him, apologizing for the delay, and informed him that he had been deemed loyal and officially moved to active duty. Areack’s first mission on the Copernicus was to explore and chart some planets in a system. It was discovered that both planets were inhabited by some rather unique aliens. The first planet was inhabited by some form of intelligent plant that had been able to communicate with the creatures on the other planet, intelligent aquatic life forms, the P’ah’lai. Areack was assigned to the away team to the P’ah’lai planet. The P’ah’lai led Areack’s away team to a ship graveyard where the P’ah’lai’s ancestors had left their ships. Areack helped activate these ships and use them to rescue the Copernicus from a Cardassian warship. It was also during this mission that Areack was introduced to a new engineer onboard, Imrix Trem. Trem, who was at first lower-ranked than Areack, advanced through the ranks quickly and became the Chief Engineer of the Copernicus, this annoyed Areack at first but he and Trem soon became friends. For his next mission on the Copernicus, with a new captain, Star Fleet selected the Copernicus to act as their guinea pig in the testing of a captured Borg Transwarp gate. A plasma storm caused a malfunction which sent the Copernicus a LONG way from home. At this far place the Crew of the Copernicus was subjected to a kidnappings and gladiatorial combat by a hostile alien race. The Copernicus was able to escape with all hands. They found the still-open transwarp conduit and soon returned home. It was during this shore leave that Areack received the best shock of his life. His family came to visit him on the ship and his mother gave him a data-chip from his Father. Areack went to his office to view the chip and while he was watching the video it occurred to him that his father had recorded things that he could only know if he had heard about Areack’s recent career. Then he heard a voice and he turned around to face his father. David John Jackson had survived the battle at Volgo. Him and the surviving crew had been marooned on a planet in the Volgo system for 13 years and had only recently been rescued. He enjoyed a happy reunion with his WHOLE family. When his family had to leave they left Areack with a gift, a pure-bred German shepherd puppy that had been born to the German shepherd Areack had left at home. The sol system was attacked during this time by a hostile race from the andromeda galaxy, and though Areack played a small part in this conflict it was at this time that he was given the position of Chief Engineer of the Copernicus. Areack was then involved in a mission that was basically the two previous missions added up, a long-distance planetary survey to a system far out of federation space. It took two months to arrive but what they found was shocking. Inside a nebulae was a solar system of over one hundred planets. While Areack was in a department head meeting regarding away teams and exploration, a careless engineer started a fire in quarters. This inferno was un-hindered by the incapacitated fire suppression system. Areack assisted with the fire after his meeting. And once the fire was out repairs began. Areack was assigned to the away team to the planet Vivaldi. Areack and the away team had many adventures on the planet. While others went in to explore the town Areack stayed behind to supervise operations for his half of the team, and to repair the shuttle with the help of a security officer, Raass Giraath. A huge storm blew in, which interfered with communications, and Areack left the shuttle to go rescue some officers stranded in the local town. Areack arrived and found one of the men in critical condition. Areack and LCdr. Alex Crowhurst tried to make their way back to the shuttles for help but they were lost in a sand storm and spent a day and a half wandering towards the mountains where THEY were rescued by the rest of the team. The storms died down the communications interference disappeared and the team returned to the Copernicus. Areack finished off the mission by supervising the towing of the crippled Yeager back to the star base and filing reports. |
